Marilyn was born and raised in Syracuse, New York. She attended public schools there including SUNY Potsdam, where she completed a BA degree. She began graduate studies at Cornell and Syracuse University then enrolled full time at Southern Illinois University to work on her Masters Degree and PhD. She taught for several years before being recruited to work in the business world. She worked for the Bell System and AT&T for the next 20+ years. She held executive positions at AT&T and several telecommunications firms.
Political work is not new to Marilyn. She worked in a variety of capacities on a number of political campaigns in Illinois, New York and more recently here in Arizona. She ran for the Arizona House of Representatives in 2006. Marilyn is currently Chair of the Legislative District 7 Democratic Party, a member of the Executive Committee of the Maricopa County Democratic Party, and serves as a Board Member of the City of Phoenix Rehabilitation Appeals Board.
Marilyn and her husband Jim, a now retired Dentist, moved to Arizona in 2003. She came here to help her parents with health care and daily living issues and to join other family members.
Marilyn enjoys working with people, gathering and assimilating information, building on ideas and solving problems. Her interest in education, health care, jobs and family security comes from her educational background, business training and life long interests and experiences.
Marilyn is a natural leader who shows compassion for her work, drive to make things better and focus on the welfare of the people with whom she works and serves. Her educational background, business training and life experiences provide a strong foundation for the position of County Supervisor.
